Simple Questions - August 04, 2017

Most likely a very dumb question but I'm currently building my own PC ( Build - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/WzLLRG ) and I'm following a YouTube video to help me build and I completed it and it wouldn't turn on so im thinking I messed up somewhere so I decided to remove everything and start again. My actual question is that I'm a little confused when it comes to connecting the cables to the right pins, on the manual it shows adding the power button as only taking one pin but the cable needs 2. The slot next to it also says "GND" and I have no idea what that means. So the first time I tried to build it I just put the power cable in its own slot and the one on its right that says "GND". Is this the reason why it wouldn't turn on the first time ? And if it is where do I put the power cable as it needs 2 pins and it doesn't have room for that if something is meant to go in the "GND" slot.

Sorry for the huge wall of text and I'm not sure of you will be able to even understand what I'm trying to ask as it was somewhat hard to explain without pictures.

Thanks.
