Skincare Questions and Discussions | February 03 - 09, 2018

Admittedly, I was saying “This is some misguided bullshit that’s meant to shame people who are into skincare” the entire time I was reading this article. I credit that this has some valid points about skincare these days being highly consumption-driven and about standards devolving to some pointless and unrealistic bars we set for ourselves BUT I think as long as these routines and products make one feel tangibly better, I don’t think see anything wrong with them. In fact, I feel like they are essential. Many people who have felt helpless and desperate at having troubled skin for years but have seen results from using skincare products and sticking to a routine undoubtedly feel the same. Using Kim Kardashian as an example just seems like a lame attempt at a valid point.

More importantly, no matter what the author says, he can’t deny the fact that appearances matter and figure in almost all aspects of our lives. Denying that is just preposterous.
