If we're gonna be real, every company you buy from is gonna be problematic in some way. Sorry na lang in advance if what I type might end up seeming like I'm rambling lol.

My opinion about this matter is that yes it will be difficult to avoid problematic companies (we live in the Philippines after all lol), it's better to try than to just give into it. If what I'm buying are essentials like groceries and household items, then yeah it's a bit difficult to avoid being an ethical consumer with SM, Landmark, Rustans etc. all having their own issues. But if what I'm buying isn't necessary (like make up), then by all means I will try to find more ethical alternatives if possible.

I once asked my friend why she wanted to buy the Airblush so badly despite knowing that Sunnies are Marcos supporters and she just told me "One blush isn't gonna make them go bankrupt". I kinda don't want to make this analogy as it's a bit drastic but that kind of statement reminds me of people who choose not to vote because they believe their vote won't make a difference.

Just writing this post I feel like I'm being a bit hypocritical since I still buy from stores that have problematic issues that I'm well aware of (ehem Uniqlo ehem huhuhu). But I guess my point is that yeah we live in a society that traps us in this system but my own take is that we should at the very least try? Especially for those who have the privilege to do so.

tl;dr Capitalism sucks and idk what to about it lol
