SLS or HLS?

Harvard. Why? Because your network is very important as you go through your career. I am 15 years out of law school and it's amazing how often I run into my classmates, and how much we help each other out. By virtue of being larger and better in your field of interest, Harvard is the better choice for your career. I found my current position through what started as an informal discussion with a friend from law school. You'll get more opportunities at Harvard and must be exceptional to get into both so I wouldn't worry about the competition. The lay prestige is far greater with Harvard and that will help you as well if you want to do something besides law. Not sure about your wife and her preferences but it will be a more mature and interesting social setting for a married couple living in Boston than in the expensive suburb of Palo Alto. As with the school, there are just more options. If she's shy or you have children, Palo Alto might be better though. The law school bubble might get old at Stanford for her otherwise.
