Have never heard of higher prices if you need extra semesters at least in Dresden, Heidelberg, Stuttgart, Kaiserslautern or Karlsruhe. People without parents or similar situations get Bafög. Up to 780€/Month. You have to pay back half of it with a Maximum of 10,000€, if you need more time it may become a zero% credit instead (for the additional ammount, not the stuff you recived allready). I need about 40,000€ for my 5 years of University which is 99% cost of living. Education is free, living is only assisted.
