We have to do something about /r/politics.

Seriously, definitions change and life is hard. "Faggot" is used more to denote weakness when used as a slur, I don't think people here are using the word in some homophobic context like you imagine. Some people might take offence? Well whatever, they are failing at comprehension, people need to develop thicker skin.

You are, 100%, making a big deal out of nothing. People need to be a little less easily offended. If one is to say that 'faggot' is an offensive term, where do we stop? How does one define offence? If I say I think you have terrible skin or look far older than your actual age, is that too offensive to say? What about if I say you're overweight and should really lose a few pounds to prevent diabetes? Where does it end?

It's a slippery slope from there with scope creep etc. That's what's got everyone into the current overly politically correct situation. It's garbage. You end up legislating for states of mind which are fully subjective. Either you can say everything you want, or you don't have free speech. That's just how it is. You seem to think that you hate 'political correctness' but you are in fact fully advocating it. You are looking to control speech in how it makes a listener feel. Nothing could be more irrational and harder to quantify. Threats of violence, yes, I'd understand. Hurt feelings? Deal with it. People need to take responsibility to control their own mental wellbeing regardless of what people say to them.

Additionally, this is not 'incendiary' in the slightest. If this concerns you, you should see what people say when they actually mean it. You would have a mental breakdown. If this is beyond the pale for you, you would crumble in an actually aggressive situation. That is just feeble. Life gets a lot harder than nasty words. You're claiming some moral high ground, where in fact you're arguing that people are so pathetic that they need to be shielded from nasty words and thoughts. You are actually belittling them thinking they need you as their social justice warrior.
