Something needs to be done about the current anti-cheating system.

There will be a long/assumption (very vague assumptions just to give some illustration) based comment after this, but what i wanted to say - i do not see this as completely useless cry for attention, however, I believe there are follow up things to do if person is genuinely interested in helping with the situation, and it would involve trying to contact anet. if you are right, and they do not give shit about hacking issues, and this will make them care, follow up is needed. Also, this does not contribute to problem with unfair bans (i also have no idea about actual scale of this) and I admit anet seems to be unfairly treating this issue, but human resources are not infinite, this directly points that anet is apparently not catching hackers.

Disclaimer: All the numbers used, except for registered number of accounts, total assets, gems->gold money value are assumptions that are not based on extensive research and are not reliable to assume anything about the financial or hacking status of the game or anet as a company. ** The question really is in scale, for company to pay attention. I do believe cases when people are unfairly banned, even if in small number, should be addressed(!) and public addressing then is needed to help he cause, after all, people then do not go over the border;

However, when, like in OPs case, (assuming, that, after stating, his account cannot be traced and he is not banned yet, he has not tried to give any relevant information to Anet) person goes out and cheats and supports cheating websites, there is not a justification "but this is not public". people know that hacking happens. it professionals know that loopholes exist.

Companies might not give a shit about lots of things. However, when it is he financial question, it is different. Sadly, I cannot really find decent assumption about how much exactly GW2 is accountable for Anet's profit, but, since f2p has been introduced, micro transactions is the main profit source.

Using gw2 efficiency right now, 5200 gold would be 18,831 gems that translates into (€235.39). People who use scam sites to buy gold want it instantly, and can get it half a price (i guess it depends on a server, as I decided not to put a lot of time into researching the site). So let's push this assumptions further. 7 million accounts after HoT launch, assume that half are active (no idea how correct those numbers are, saw number 3.1 million in November 2015 in one article), but it is top10 mmo this far. Assuming 0.01% of population uses gold buying, we look at 82 386.50 euros not profited). And that is for once in lifetime action. However, if the number of cheaters is so small, that it does not produce a financial loss (which though it does for each and every game, direct or indirect), then it is not the most pressing issue on the earth.

Yes, we are talking about 1.6 billion company (2015 total assets according to public BS), however, GW2 is a project with its own budget. Seeing, that Anet really tries to sell expansions, they do care about their profit. And they definitely are working with information they have to prevent profit loss, but hey, they are not apple, to keep all the hackers at bay (and even apple are not wizzards in this), as it is still a human resource question - new hacks tend to come in faster than security measures. Not saying that Anet is perfect - just saying that this might be not the question where they do not care (probably, compared to innocents banned, this is more pressing issue for them, especially when the latter is harder to prove.) Also, let's face it - just the fact that gold selling sites etc exists, means that each and every game has this issue, and they are trying to battle it as they can. LAST, but not the least, it is worth to remember that unfair bans tend to grow when number of hackers grow - the more serious company is about preventing the bans, more people suffer.

All in all - I just hope that if OP really cares about issue, he will not not feed this culture, and will also try to use this spotlight to connect anet people to give them facts to work with.
