(Spoilers All) Organized Future Book Info

  • ###Families
  • ##LANNISTER
  • >- The Crown owes a lot of money to the Lannisters. Now that they've have taken power and the war is over, will they start squeezing the land dry to recover on that debt?
  • >>- The Crown owes money to a lot of people. It's the debts to the Faith and the Iron Bank of Braavos that should concern them, not the one to Casterly Rock.
  • ##MARTELL
  • >- Dorne Porne As far as fans of Oberyn (of which I'm the biggest, of course), I was talking to him about how much I liked the character even though we only got to spend a short amount of time with him and that the mountain killing him was my throw the book across the room moment. He then asked me how much I liked his daughters. o >>- I answered that I liked them quite a bit and that the Martells are my favorite family in Westeros. He commented that I should be very pleased with some of the coming events then
  • ##STARK
  • >- Q: The Lannisters and the Freys have so many relatives, while there are very few Starks. Didn’t Ned have any distant relatives that could claim Winterfell? o >> - A: It’s true that right now the Freys and the Lannisters have very large families. The Starks are few now. But there were many factors to this: in the North, conflicts are habitual; branches of the Starks have separated from the main family long ago and formed their own House (the Karstarks for example, but there could be more…)… and you have to take into account the situation at the moment: we already know how Ned’s children are; Brandon and Lyanna died with no children; Benjen joined the Night’s Watch. o >>> - And there’s something else to consider: the North is special. In the North not everyone can rule. Remember the conversation between Robb and Cat when they are speaking precisely of this: Cat was talking about a distant relative from the Vale with Stark blood, and Robb says “he can’t rule the North, he never set foot there. There’s a much closer option”, and then it’s Cat who says “never”. Well, they just denied two options at once there.
  • >- Oh, George said all the Stark children of this generation were full Wargs. I thought they were like one shot Wargs and were only bonded to their wolves but no they can warg into just about anything. Bran is just the only one working on it. http://www.westeros.org/Citadel/SSM/Month/2007/08
  • ##TARGARYEN O AERYS AND RHAEGAR o >- Q: Am I reading things between the lines that aren't really there, but was Rhaegar and Aerys' relationship not all that it could be?  >> - A: There were definitely tensions between father and son. More will be revealed in future books.

o > - Granny: Do Targaryens become immune to fire once they "bond" to their dragons?

 >> - George_RR_Martin: Granny, thanks for asking that. It gives me a chance to clear up a common misconception. TARGARYENS ARE NOT IMMUNE TO FIRE! The birth of Dany's dragons was unique, magical, wonderous, a miracle. She is called The Unburnt because she walked into the flames and lived. But her brother sure as hell wasn't immune to that molten gold.

  • Revanshe: So she won't be able to do it again?  >>- George_RR_Martin: Probably not.
    • And, in 1998 he wrote: "Lastly, some fans are reading too much into the scene in GAME OF THRONES where the dragons are born -- which is to say, it was never the case that all Targaryens are immune to all fire at all times."
  • Targaryen Sword: Straight Outta Valyria? I suppose that there must have been a Targaryen Valyrian sword ..what happened to it? it is never mentioned. Was it melted down like Ice? No Comment http://www.westeros.org/Citadel/SSM/Month/2000/09

  • “Rhaegar was cremated, as is traditional for fallen Targaryens.”

  • "The third [head] will not necessarily BE a Targaryen…"

  • VALYRIAN DRAGON RIDERS

  • [Were the Targaryens the only Valyrians who rode dragons?] o They were the only dragonriders to survive the Doom.

  • [Are dragons male, female, hermaphroditic, or is there something magical involved in their reproduction?] o Sexing dragons is difficult. More in future books.

  • [Do all the Great Houses own Valyrian steel weapons?] o Oh, there are more Valyrian swords than we have seen so far. Not all of them belong to the Great Houses. Lesser nobility would oft purchase one as well, for the prestige, and sometimes knights or even lesser swords would acquire one on the battlefield, after the original owner fell. But there have been no more made since the Doom of Valyria.

- Lastly, (iv), well, Aerion Brightfire did not stay in Lys all his life, only a few years. He may have fathered a few bastards there, which would mean Dany has "relatives" of a sort in Lys... but they would be very distant relatives, from the wrong side of the blanket.

- - Mace and Olenna know Loras is gay. I figured Olenna knew, but good for Mace being a progressive dude for his time. Man’s an idiot but as a father he’s leagues ahead of most in Westeros.

  • ###People
  • ##AEGON
  • - "Are Aegon and Rhaenys, Elia’s children, well and truly dead?
  • - All I have to say is that there is absolutely no doubt that little Princess Rhaenys was dragged from beneath her father’s bed and slain.”
  • ##ARTHUR DAYNE o - Q: Arthur Dayne has been held up as the epitome of chivalry. How could he put up with Aerys' crimes, ones which horrified even Jaime? A:Well, keep reading...

  • ##ARYA

  • ##ASHARA DAYNE o - [How old is] Ashara Dayne? Ditto. [30s]

  • ##BENJEN o - Secret reasons for Benjen joining the watch Q: Why did Benjen join the Night's Watch? o - A: Good question. One day you will get an answer. But it will not be today.

  • ##BRAN
