I started learning to cube yesterday with the GoCube, and this is amazing. Any tips for a beginner?

I started cubing maybe 5-6 weeks ago, was averaging around 90 seconds using beginner’s with a or single of 1:18 when I was about a month in.

Because I felt my improvements in solve times were getting smaller, I started learning F2L and the pairing-then-inserting stuff found on jperm’s YouTube channel. I took the intuitive method optionand IMO it’s pretty cool. I understand the the process as a whole and for me at least, I think that route is better than rote learning the 41 (or whatever) algs. Problem is, my time has dropped to ~3 min, I’m horribly slow at seeing matches and pretty slow at evaluating which of the three connection methods I need to use.

I fully expect that learning a new method is going to make one slower but I got slower and after two weeks, haven’t improved significantly. Saw someone the other day who was averaging like 40-50s using beginner’s. Was it a mistake to move to F2L?

I should mention that I’m not focused on speed, I often go days and even weeks without bothering to time myself. Right now I’m focused on technique.

Thanks much in advance for any advice.
