Suicide kills more U.S. troops than ISIL in Middle East

The Army, well military in general is a double-edged sword for a lot of people. You get really good benefits out of it. Like really good. Free college, free healthcare, (up to) 400,000 of life ins for like $25 per month, and a lot more. But the problem is, if you don't like the military, but need the benefits it's hard to walk away for a lot of them. So you hate your job, but you need it, especially if you have kids or a wife, which most do because the barracks suck and BAH is delicious. Only most civilians in this situation work at a call center or retail or some shitty job where there biggest issue is an asshole boss or just unfulfilling work. They don't have to go overseas and fight wars for 9 months or more at a time. See their friends get blown up, miss their families, have their wives cheat on them, miss birthdays and holidays and funerals and births. And once you sign your contract, you're in. It's pretty hard to get out and keep any of the bennies. You have to pretty much be medically discharged or some other kind of discharge.

Then theres all your field grades and SNCOs that get caught having affairs and other scandals and cant face the music.

Like every other day in r/army it feels like someone posts about losing a friend to suicide. So if you're thinking about, talk to someone. We all got ACE cards and we're all here to help each other. Don't let the big green weanie dick you to death.
