Suite 997 - Double - J. S. Bach - Classical Guitar

u/OnlyKnowsWonderwall, right, and I'm not denying you of that.

Bach is very tough both to play and to transcribe. Since none of his music was ever written for the guitar, and this piece having been written for the lute, Bach's original genius has been watered down,  with notes carefully altered or changed to fit the harmonic limits of the guitaric fretboard but still harmonicly sound as Bach had intended. The bass notes you mentioned, either needed to be taken an octave higher or lower depending on whether they conflict with the melody, and therefore at times get lost within the harmony or conjoin with the melody.

With the help of Hans Dagobert Bruger's transcription and the early lute manuscripts (both found on public domain: http://imslp.org/wiki/Suite_in_C_minor,_BWV_997_(Bach,_Johann_Sebastian) )the transcription in this video is my own and one of my first Bach transcriptions. I hope to do more in the future. Thanks to your comment, I'll keep you criticism in mind regarding consonance, dissonance, bass notes, double speed, phrasing, and rhythm.

Also, I use open strings whenever possible, including within scalular runs and legatos--which where never a part of the original score. What this does for me as a player is make the piece less stressful for my hands to perform. As you may have experienced with Bach lute like transcriptions, lactic acid will prevail at one point or another. Lol.

As far as the tempo and speed is concerned, I took after Manuel Barrueco's version of the Double found in his 2007 CD set "300 Years of Masterpieces". It is worth mentioning that his version is much faster and much cleaner than mine. You may not like that one either. :)

Once again your criticism is valid and I appreciate you taking the time to critic my performance. Cheers.
