Personally, I moved to the UK from Egypt to study. I then got a skilled job on the national shortage list, made friends, started a family, and integrated in social values, traditions, religious and political views, and everything else that matters. I pay my taxes, never committed crime (not even a single parking ticket), and regularly contribute within my community to make sure it’s clean and safe. I have nothing but love and respect for British people and their — now also my — culture.

Should I have not been allowed in, given that Egypt isn’t “culturally close” to Britain? Should the millions of other people like me who could easily assimilate with and contribute to European cultures, also not be allowed in?
