Trump administration stops disclosing troop deployments in Iraq and Syria

If you spent time in the military, then you'd know that there is not strategic risk or loss in saying that so many thousand troops are deploying somewhere. The enemy already knows those areas are being targeted because operators and recon have already gone in and setup forward operating bases.

By the time things like this hit the news, the dirty work is mostly done already. This isn't protecting anyone's life, and it's awful for government accountability. My skin in this game is our government not going off the deep-end, and that's increasingly an issue recently.

And also if you served then you should know you are not entitled to ask "what have you done for our troops lately" because soldiers and the military are not owed any special consideration in this country. There is a reason we have civilians at the top of the CoC. Asking someone that hasn't served what they've done for their troops is one of the most dishonorable things I could imagine a soldier doing. But maybe marines and army roll differently.
