TIL that in 41 states, parents without high school diplomas or GEDs are permitted to homeschool their children

Huh, opposite happened when I had to take a year of homeschooling due to medical reasons. (Somewhere around 1st or 2nd grade) My parents took a hands off aproch but left me with their laptop (which for the record was terrible) After the first month of doing nothing I got bored and started reading novels, I taught myself coding using the the source code for games we happened to have. (The internet wasn't what it is today) I studied science and math because I got bored and found it interesting (although I didn't touch biology). I also took a liking to history and different cultures. By the time I rejoined my classmates I was years ahead, but the school system what it was I got terrible grades for good awful nearly illegible handwriting, not knowing specific dates, finding the "right" way of most of the assignments wasteful, boring, and slow and "disrespecting" an asshole of a teacher, who turns out was just recently convicted of molesting his students. Tldr, while guidance helps kids to grow they're smarter than they seem, and the school system still sucks.
