Why teens may never be the same after the pandemic

31 year old millenial here. I graduated high school just as the last recession hit. My lower class/working class (see: 45k combined income) parents lost their jobs, I faced immense pressure to enter the work force, contribute to the family, and skip the frivolity of post-high school education.

I stuck with it. Got a masters degree, became a therapist. Graduated with massive student loan debt that grows every year because I didn't have a co-signed. Never owned a car that wasn't used, never let the country, never been to the doctor other than for physicals and TB tests for jobs.

I lost my job in this recession now. I will likely never own a home, have children, or travel the world.

Missing prom sounds rough though.
