I am confused.

I play quite defensively which is usually not well received in FGs. No clue what you even mean by "spam technique". You mean using a safe move or...?

There is no wrong way of playing its just that there are a lot of knowledge gaps in beginner intermediate and certain characters offer more ways to abuse them than others. Playing against a leo, miguel, katarina, ling xiaoyu, eliza or alisa for example feels like taking an exam rather than playing a match. Lili and Law on the other hand are just plain annoying even if you know what to do.

Its called knowledge checking, using a move or setups that the opponent doesn't know hot to counter just yet. You just have to realize that there is almost always a way to counter a seemingly broken attack.

For example try to constantly sidewalk against kazuya and devil jin, that alone pretty much neutralizes most intermediate Kaz & DVJ players.
