"There is no such thing as a model or ideal Canadian. What could be more absurd than the concept of an “all-Canadian” boy or girl? A society which emphasizes uniformity is one which creates intolerance and hate" - Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau

We're quoting Pierre Trudeau about Canadian identity now? The one man who did the most to destroy it. Opponents of multiculturalism cited concerns from day one that it would divide our society into cultural ghettos and manufacture intolerance. Today, we're seeing that happen, and the parrots are still supporting this policy.

I'm not even sure most people realize they were taught to think this way if they were born in the eighties. It's a political policy that has been blatantly brainwashed into your children by authority figures before they had a chance to form their own opinions.

This would hardly matter if we encouraged discussion, but we don't. You either agree with Pierre Trudeau, and multiculturalism, or you're a racist. That's convenient.

What nobody wants to talk about is that this is a country that was primarily built by Anglophone and Francophone settlers. In spite of claims to the contrary, we were never a culturally diverse country to begin with. You can argue that natives were here first, but they did not build our country. They were victims of colonial exploitation.

To this day they're being exploited.

It's not unusual to meet Canadians now who identify as their own culture before they identify as Canadian citizens. They're not Canadian. They're, insert country of origin here...

It's absurd. I'm proud of my Canadian heritage. I'm not going to hate on you because your family has only been Canadian for a few generations.

However, I do expect you to show some respect for my own culture.

Tolerance is not a one way street.
