Except under a lot of interpretations of ‘Constructionism’ it would be be arbitrary considering it would be made up by a society and be able to be changed by said society as the society evolves. Which is why under that label of Social Construction, I find a lot of constructionism to be rooted in the exact same anti-gay pro-conversion therapy and anti-science rhetoric a lot of family members have thrown my way which is extremely regressive and non-liberating. Under the context of Social Construct being defined as something that can still intrinsically exist without a society but through social dilemmas (therefore still having Inherent Truths), then I’m willing to accept constructionism as the leading lens of Queer Theory.
