'There were British troops in the pacific theater in world War 2? That's cool. Did not know that.'

I know this is tamer than a lot of the stuff that's posted here but I continually see this idea across the internet that America single-handedly defeated the Japanese in the Second World War, completely ignoring the contribution of the British, Indian, Chinese (who had been fighting since 1937), Australian, New Zealand, the Dutch and MANY more. God knows what they're taught in school but I see it enough times to make me think it isn't a niche group of people who are uneducated and is actually a widely held belief among the US population.

If anyone wants to learn some of the hardest people you've ever read about, then I recommend getting to know the Chindits. Their role was similar to that of the newly formed SAS in North Africa except they didn't have the novelty of driving round in jeeps.
