Ok, here is it. as a metalhead, i know what kind of BM fans in Indonesia and what kind of the metal scene happening there. did you know that they have already played there at an anime festival? and did you know that in all BM cover you see on youtube from indonesia with those dancers is lipsynching to the backtrack, that is actually taking place at anime festivals in some large shopping centers? and a bunch of the fans moshpitting is wearing JKT48 shirts? that's what kind of fans they have there. weeaboo culture is so strong there. they're literally everywhere because indonesia is the biggest weaboo culture country in southeast asia. so big that a girlband from japan decided to make their first overseas spin-off there, that is JKT48. i'm not saying that the weaboo culture is wrong, who am i to say that? but there's more than that.
if you look deeper to the underground, Indonesia is a very metal country. i mean Indonesia is actually the biggest Brutal Death Metal (BDM) scene on earth. and we have a president who is a fucking metalhead . you don't see a president joining moshpit anywhere else, do you? here's him in Metal Hammer . and did you know that there's a band from indonesia which won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods in category The Best Metal as F*ck? which is presented by Dom Lawson himself, and that's not a fan poll, that's a fucking magazine pick, same as The Golden Gods category? they called burgerkill . the same band which played Bloodstock and Wacken. yes, that fucking Wacken, the biggest metal festival on earth. so now you kinda have some picture of how metal Indonesia is, right? fair from mainstream, but big as fuck, and that's where i want BM to come in! just not the weaboo culture.
look i don't really have a problem it, i just don't wan't BM to be regarded as some anime girlband, fuck no! i want them to be respected. and the only way for them to get it is by playing at metal festival (not anime festival). like you seen them in UK with Sonisphere, Germany with Rockavaria, Netherland with Fortarock, France with Download Paris, Austria with Rock in Vienna, and a bunch of festivals they play in US. like i said, i'm dying to see them at Hammersonic. that's the only way they come to southeast asia with respect, by playing the region biggest party (moreover with the absence of australian soundwave). i will go see them even at the smallest stage, because genre-wise it's not easy for them to headline with the usual headliner such as Lamb of God and Cannibal Corpse. but i see the chance is so small, HS is not like the festivals they've played before. it's not "Metal+Rock", or "Metal+whatever is heavy as shit" or "Rock+pop", or (in Fuji Rock case) "Rock+Jazz" kind of festival. it's just...metal and nothing else. so i see their best shot is at Download Australia (if it's really happening) because they're probably has the same root as its main festival. and they will get respected and i can finally go out and say i knew this fucking band! :D
