Thinking about playing Far Cry for he first time, and have some questions.

  1. This is not a question

  2. No. yes.

  3. 2-4 are open-world shooters with an emphasis on sandboxes. They're some of the least linear games out there. 3/4 are less realistic and way, WAY more fantastical than 2. Treat them like playable action movies. Lots of weapons and toys, and many strategies you can employ. They're also heavy on storytelling, so expect a cool plot to follow.

  4. In FC3 and 4, you'll find yourself doing a lot of the side-content while you're making your way through the main story. Playing the campaign without getting the outposts or radio towers is especially hindering. There's lots of sidequests to be done, especially in FC4.

I'd honestly expect at least 60 hours of enjoyment out of it. Even rushing, I can only 100% the game in 24 hours of game time. And I go back and replay it once every few months anyway.

  1. FC3 for the story-lover. (alternatively, just look up the story on youtube or something lol) FC4 for a slightly more polished gameplay experience. Lots more side-content to be had there as well.

The gameplay between the two is essentially the same, but FC4 has elephants and gyrocopters. It's also way, WAY prettier if you like that sort of thing

sorry if this was rushed lol
