Thoughts from the east stand @ today.

1) A lot of blame has come on the supporters for creating a "library". The atmosphere started very strong for the first 30 minutes or so. However, it didn't seem like the players had a good idea of how to breakdown Watford.

I was at the game too and I agree. It was weird. A lot of the fans were behind the players but after awhile it was very obvious that we didn't really have a plan to get the ball in the net and were stuck in awkward situations. Obviously if a player did something good we'd raise the volume but cheering constantly as you see your team hit the breaks on another attack seemed sort of... Counter productive?

2) There was an obligation it felt, mostly from the Northbank, to cheer every good defense play. It felt a little strange though, because the defense was always last ditch, a gabriel tackle or a mertesacker leg. I think this ultimately frustrated supporters, because they were essentially applauding the team for being exposed every 5 minutes and skating by with a last ditch tackle.

This wasn't helped by Watfords play-style. They wanted to use Ighalo and Deeney on the break and with the way we were committing it left us for dead a lot of the time.

3) Wenger never showed up. I only remember him being on the touchline for maybe 3-4 minutes.

Wasn't watching Wenger so can't comment but he seemed PISSED in the second half.

4) I don't know how their keeper wasn't red carded. It didn't make any sense considering the first yellow. But, sadly, this is the best thing the support had to hold on to for most of the second half.

It's that situation where the ref lets them off to be lenient. If the keeper wasn't booked already then he would have received a yellow three or four times in that second half.

5) Imo the biggest problem at the emirates is not being able to stand. Its kind of hard to get hyped sitting down. I think if your going to need to generate the energy for the players (instead of them generating the energy for you), you need to be able to stand. If they aren't playing well and you can't stand up, how can you get hyped?

Agreed.

6) The players ran down the tunnel after the game. Genuinely, 30 seconds from the whistle. I know this because I waited 5 minutes to get from my seat to the exit. Pretty pathetic when Watford is celebrating with their fans in front of your own support. Only Mertesacker and Walcott stayed for about 2 minutes, although Walcott didn't look up from the ground which is fair I guess.

Only guess is that the players didn't want to stay out when Watford were out celebrating but it's true there was almost zero acknowledgement of the fans.
