TIFU by burning down my parent's house

My older sister burned down our house with a decorative cow shaped candle set on a paper plate on top of a wicker table in an attached greenhouse filled with wicker furniture, not her smartest decision.

She was home alone and left the candle unattended while she was on the cordless phone talking with a friend in an adjacent living room. When she finally noticed she tried to put it out by throwing water in the room via an extra large bowl we used to fill with popcorn for family movie nights. Needless to say it didn't work, her friend on the other side of the phone told her to call 911 and they told her to get out of the house.

No sooner than she got to the end of the driveway the glass and steel beamed greenhouse exploded followed by a second explosion from the giant windows in the top of the cathedral ceiling in the neighboring living room. The associated heat wave caused scorch marks in the drywall from the nail heads in the studs on the other side of the house, if she was still in the house the heat wave would most likely have rendered her unconscious and possibly died due to the fire/smoke.

The firefighters were able to arrive and put it out before it completely burned down the house, but the entire house had to be stripped down to the frame due to smoke damage (the greenhouse was just gone though leaving only its concrete foundation and a gnarled mess of twisted metal beams. ... and thankfully due to what I think was small town politics the fire inspector ruled that it was electrical and blamed the adjacent setup of computers (a Mac Performa and a Commodore 64) just outside the greenhouse door as the cause.

Sure life was harder as a result and we had to live in trailers while the house was rebuilt while my mom had to fight tooth and nail with the insurance company that tried to cheat her at every turn ... but shit happens in life and kids make stupid decisions as kids because they are kids, and most importantly no one was maimed or killed.

The fire isn't something I hold against my sister and she shouldn't feel bad, and neither should OP.
