TIFU By finishing my PhD.

You could just NOT list it. There's no requirement ANYWHERE stating that you need to list all of your degrees. If you need an entry level job to "get by" for a while, limit your CV to your Masters degree and fill in the time hole with a generic "postgraduate studies" entry. I've known several PhD's who went this route for their first entry level jobs. permalinkembedsavereportgive goldreply [–]forceUSAyugeoncemore 569 points 10 hours ago* This is true, but not everyone with a Ph.D. has a Master's. If you only have a Bachelor's and Ph.D., it would be dishonest to advertise yourself at the Master's-level, despite having more training. permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]pkvh 640 points 10 hours ago Many PhD programs issue the masters if you file the right paperwork permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]neurone214 90 points 9 hours ago In mine you could 'master out' if you passed your preliminary exams but didn't complete your PhD. Once you finish, though, no masters for you. permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply load more comments (9 replies) [–]gmwdim 300 points 10 hours ago And many don't. permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]wild_card_bitch 710 points 10 hours ago But then again, many do. permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]kidkappel 572 points 10 hours ago On the same coin, often times they do not. permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]Occhrome 122 points 9 hours ago This will clear up any confusion https://www.reddit.com/r/tifu/comments/4pbffj/tifu_by_finishing_my_phd/d4jyamt permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]codeki 90 points 9 hours ago But here's a counter point. https://www.reddit.com/r/tifu/comments/4pbffj/tifu_by_finishing_my_phd/d4jyejg permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]Stoppels 33 points 8 hours ago Well… However… Has discussion gone too far?! permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]edrab 94 points 8 hours ago good point, but this says otherwise permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply continue this thread [–]candyappleman 286 points 9 hours ago Granted, but other times, they do. permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]seanmcgoldy 238 points 9 hours ago I've also heard that frequently, they won't. permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]BlindSoothsprayer 188 points 9 hours ago Given that that is a fact, it is also a fact that sometimes they will. permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]Rotsei 134 points 9 hours ago Schrodinger's Masters Degree? permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply continue this thread [–]NashRay 23 points 9 hours ago Although, to the contrary, once in a blue moon they won't. permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply continue this thread load more comments (11 replies) load more comments (1 reply) load more comments (4 replies) load more comments (2 replies)
