TIL A man was once sued by United Airlines for making a site which helps people find cheaper flight tickets

Thats not true, you people have no clue how pricing models work.

Not every flight is a fixed price, some flights are cheaper and are subsidized with the higher prices of other routes, to put it very simply.

Lets say a ticket from NY to DFW costs 1000 bucks and a ticket from NY to LAX with a stop in DFW costs 900 bucks, you buy the second one and get off in DFW.

In essence, you just screwed their entire pricing model and abused the system and the fee reduction they set up as a "benefit" for people flying to LAX and having a stopover in DFW.

An airline couldn't care less if you were required to pay for what you actually consumed but this is simple not the case when you don't comply with their pricing models.

Thats like paying a 3 pairs of underwear at a 10% discount and then being upset you can't get the same discount for buying 1 pair.

Thats why they overbook, thats why pricing models are what they are and the more shady abuse of pricing models takes place, the harsher airlines or any business will respond.

Businesses don't make a living by screwing over customers, you can't expect them to not have any remedies against abuse of their pricing structure.
