Tile Hip/Ridge Repairs - Irma

I've never worked in the US (only the UK and Australia)

Yesterday I asked a guy on this sub why none of the tiles were bedded/had dry ridge..

His reply..

"Ideally should have a peal and stick bitumen under the ridge tiles that covers the head lap of both sides of field tile. Could be there and not seen because it’s under the ridge.

Real world answer? It’s fine. I’ve worked on/torn off many tile roofs that had nothing there and showed no water damage. Your underlay on tile should be your true waterproofing- should be able to handle any wind driven rain that enters.

My answer could be regional. I’m in California. Would never dream of telling a roofer in a place like Florida how to do their job. "
