Treatment of Soldiers Returning Home from Vietnam War

I live in flyover country too, lived here all my life. I was in the Army and the National Guard in the 90s. Never heard anyone say one bad word about Vietnam or vets around here ever.

It's interesting how history is taught. In high school, we talked about the 60s and it was all protests, drugs, weird music, hippies, etc. I went home one night and talked to my dad about. He was sitting in his Lazyboy reading the newspaper, and I asked him what he did in the 60s. Expecting to hear hippy, protests, drugs, etc., he put down the paper, looked at me and said, "I did what everyone else did: got out of bed and went to work everyday."

Google Top 10 selling records from 1960-1969. There aren't protest songs, hippy songs, etc. It's pretty tame and bland.

The Vietnam War era was very different from the way we're told.
