Trials is currently Hell to play, but Heaven to watch.

It's the most oxymoronic game mode I've seen in a game.

It essentially requires low skill player cattle to stay afloat, because its main goal is to get win streaks on nothing but a card based matchmaking gacha. The lower the population, the less likely you'll find success, but also the only people staying are the ones who find the most success most often, meaning the only chance an average joe is if the population is absolutely booming. If your skill is under a certain percentile of players, you're likely just grunt tiered stepping stones for someone else's success. The only lure for most are new weapons and armor, which the second they're achieved (if they even bother), they're out of there.

It's just completely unsustainable and cannibalizing unless you're a top end player who can offset any bad luck matchmaking rolls where someone can actually wipe the floor with you. It's fun to watch these people because it's more about watching them actually succeed rather than being stuck in win/loss limbo. If Destiny wasn't such a huge game with ample amounts of players, I think Trials would've ran out of food awhile ago tbh.
