Well, on the one hand:

You're certainly not wrong about the absurdity and lunacy of Elon's particular vision!

That much is now becoming ever more quite crystal clear to a lot of the world.

On the other hand...

Aside from Elon, given some new and innovative technologies, the economy can indeed continue to grow to levels beyond our current imagination, without destroying Earth's biosphere, especially if we can gain cheap access to the rest of the solar system and space.

For example: in the Kuiper Belt and Oort Cloud of our solar system, it is thought that billions of Earth worth of mass in just water alone, might exist. And that's just one resource of so much more that is out there in our local backyard in the solar system.

And speaking of cheap access to space...

Thoughts naturally turn to SpaceX, which has indeed been making huge strides in that regard.

BUT... even in that respect, interestingly, as I was saying in another comment above...

The more Elon Musk unravels, the more it's becoming clear that the true unsung managing hero behind SpaceX might actually be COO Gwynne Shotwell!

At this point, seems like: without Gwynne, SpaceX would have unraveled, and flopped.

So even the one true paradigm shifting technology he's involved with... SpaceX... even then: increasingly it doesn't seem believable anymore that he was the main force behind it, despite having marketed himself in that way, and tricked many of us (including myself), into believing that.

Again, at this point, now that we've seen his behavior at Twitter, that just isn't believable anymore.
