Where we won't agree is that by taking away our guns, you are going to change the motive of these people.

If the goal is just to prevent shootings, then you don't need to change their motives - just make it much, much harder for them to act on it, which disarming would achieve. Fixing them as people to not have these thoughts can be a seperate objective to preventing them from killing people.

Is that a practical solution? no. not at all really - but i don't the underlying logic there is really flawed.

people do talk about that, literally all the time? It's not exactly forbidden knowledge that being trans is not at all easy road, and that many of them suffer from severe mental health problems and have a horrifically high sucide rate.

Noone seriously disputes or disagrees with that, on any side of the debate.
