Unpopular opinion: Small businesses & thrift stories

This is a legitimate business where you buy something, add “value” to it and resell. Its a basic lifecycle of a product because we dont buy in bulk but for single consumption. However, the marketing with these store is the biggest scam. Basic definition of thrifting is getting a good deal. We are just being scammed. What they are selling is export surplus or stuff anyone can buy from sarojini/colaba for throwaway prices as low as 20 bucks. If I am spending this much, I would prefer something that’s Atleast new and not already modelled/used by the owner. Another reason people thrift is to score unique pieces. As an enthusiast, I have spent hours spending that one unique thing while coming across a top every chick is wearing in my college in 10 different colours. Zero aesthetic, no value added, fake sense of exclusivity. I don’t see a point giving these stores a time of day. Also, if a small business is crap sorry most of us dont have extra cash to waste on it.
