Vanderbilt RN Arrested After Patient Death

Of course you deleted your original comment when I crafted an entire response under it. Sigh.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry. That sucks. I had accidentally submitted it before I intended to.

I have had a decade long career in the pharmacy industry

So, I'm actually quite interested in your take then, because I haven't heard this from a pharmacist's perspective yet.

Quick point about the precedent of this, hundreds of thousands of providers and pharmacists should be held to the same standard, which means our jails would filled to the max with people who have made medical errors, medication errors and prescription errors.

Prosecuting medical professionals criminally needs to be reserved for the most heinous acts. I’m not entirely convinced that this is one of those times.

FWIW, in my fifteen years of practice I've only seen or heard of handful of errors of this magnitude. Also, I'm not an attorney, but she's being prosecuted by the state of Tennessee. So, I don't think the precedent would necessarily affect caselaw in other states. Perhaps a real attorney, not an internet one (haha), will come along and chime in. In either case, I think it's an exaggeration to say our jails would be "filled to the max."

It pains me a little to say this, because I'm not without sympathy for her, but I do think this is one of those times that a jury trial is warranted.
