Nukes do t even create craters, you realise that right? They’re detonated in the air, they don’t bury into the ground.

I find it highly unlikely Bethesda will have nukes permanently changing the landscape. It would create a massive discontinuity in the experience. One server you join, it’s nuked to hell. The next server, everything is still pristine. That would be bizarre and make no sense. Making physical map changes temporary would also make zero sense. Oh you just nuked Charleston? Come back in 2 hours and it’ll be rebuilt...

If it’s just a temporary status effect they can just say the immediate fallout dissipated after a few hours
