"the virgin 'you can't see me' vs the Chad Matanglawin"

Thinking this way means...you don't understand Chinese psyche at all. Quite frankly, my Mainlander friends laugh at foreigners attempts to do this. Just don't do it, makes you all look like clowns to them. Do remember most of them have VPNs (Chinese kids love Instagram and gaming too much, so they need it) and many of them do have access to the outside internet so they know what foreigners post. It's a bit weird for me as most of my Chinese friends can understand English at the very least someone they know our content and people in China do have methods to talk about "restricted" stuff like Tiananmen by using keywords which everyone understands anyway but isn't detected by the algorithm (also Winnie the Pooh isn't banned/censored! There's many things to talk about China but that's definitely one of the things that aren't true).

I personally think the Taiwan issue is more sensitive for China compared to Tiananmen, Xinjiang or even Hong Kong. You could literally lose your job and social circle (yeah - literally lose friends) in China once people discover that you believe Taiwan should be a separate country. It's almost at a level you are considered a terrorist since you are a separatist. It's like telling adults in the Philippines you don't believe in God or telling people in the US you are racist - it will get you cancelled. With Tiananmen or HK protests, some of my Chinese friends are still reasonable about those topics but Taiwan being part of China is just a big non negotiable topic for them. Imagine a 2 billion country all thinking that way, not to mention a lot of Chinese in Singapore and Malaysia also agreeing with that stance. Even the older generation in Taiwan have that stance. That's why I always feel if ever shit hits the fan in the region, it's gonna be because of Taiwan.

Chinese people DO get mad at their government (esp when their govt tried to hide COVID last year! People were mad, mad on Weibo to the point it can't be managed by the censors because people were just ANGRY) but talking about Tiananmen or Falun Gong won't get them riled up as Chinese people themselves think their govt's action on Tiananmen was right (try talking to Chinese who came from more cosmopolitan cities like Shanghai, Beijing or Shenzhen and they certainly know it) and they see Falun Gong as a harmful cult (even anti CCP Chinese people here on reddit have this stance too)
