A walking teddy bear

Is he/she some type of 'oodle' mix?

My experience: My pure bred poodle was eager to please and at the same time dignified. He got pleasure from knowing commands and following them, in short he loved having a job.

My aussiepoo (aussiedoodle...Australian shepherd + poodle) wanted nothing more than a job as well. Energy like I've never seen. In fact, the latter kept the former "young". Charlie used to herd Boots through the door once they came in from outside...I can imagine old Boots' frustration with this young dog nipping at him...

It's so funny how each dog breed has their quirks. I say my first dog, the poodle, was eager to please, but I didn't realize how much the young one (poodle/aussies mix) needed a job and wanted to please. He lives with my parents but whenever I'm lucky enough to visit I take him for a long walk/jog and we travel the coast of the lake (sometimes we both swim just to burn energy!). He is a sweetheart, but I try to keep him mentally engaged whenever I come in. So, we run/walk/swim (as stated). But dammit if that dog isn't insatiable. Keeps me young, and it keeps him happy.

I miss boots every day (passed when he was 17), he was my first family pet, but Charlie (the Aussie Poo) has shown me new levels of pet-dom. It is crazy how different each pet can be. I'll say this though, I've had plenty of people guffaw at the fact that I've owned a poodle (when you grow up in the south, people think poodles are "gay"), but honestly I think that Poodles are one of the most rewarding dog breeds. All breeds are great for the most part, don't get me wrong.

But Poodles are wonderful. And I attribute Charlie's healthy disposition as an even mix between Aussie and Poodle, they are both magical breeds and I love them both!!! Someone would likely have the same story for any breed, because we all love our pets, but I can't help but say that poodles, shepherd, mixtures, hell any "working" breed, are all wonderful. Know where your dog comes from and what makes them tick, if you can give them anything resembling a fulfilling task (even if it is grabbing toy repetitively), do it. Dogs deserve a life where they feel like they are doing something. #dawgjawbs16
