Watching everyone have fun on vr when you don’t have one

Honestly I just don't really enjoy VR that much. First of all I've been gaming for 25 years with a piece of plastic at my fingertips sitting in front of a screen mercifully disconnected from my body, so having to wear this clunky apparatus on my head just makes the experience too all-consuming for my tastes. I've tried REVII, Skyrim, and Half Life: Alyx at my friend's place, and my big problem with it is that simply moving in first person is a design challenge that current VR tech simply hasn't solved. You're either moving with a regular controller and aiming with your head (weird when you have a gun), or you're aiming with both head and a held weapon/tool but moving by awkwardly pointing at a place on the ground you want to basically warp to. I did do a VR Zombie experience thing that was pretty fun and engages your whole body, but that requires buying a ticket to go play at a giant facility for a limited time.

I'm content to just stick with normal games, although I can imagine being interested once there's some kind of next big revolution in the design of VR equipment that solves these issues. Not trying to drag anyone who enjoys it, mind. It's just not for me.
