The Weekly Anything Goes Thread - January 27, 2017

I honestly think this sub needs to have a serious discussion about Trump, the White House, Congress, et al., and where we go from here.

While on the one hand, they're low hanging fruit, they're also officially the representatives of the American people right now to the rest of the world. What they say is literally now "shit Americans say", not only on a personal level, but on an official level.

The stuff that used to be "don't post on this sub because not many Americans say that" are now things that have filtered from the fringes to the mainstream and it's all kinds of fucked up.

I know most of us don't want this sub becoming less "stuff that's funny or just dumb but naive stereotypes" and I agree this place should be light-hearted. It's been brought up a few times in the past few months. But that was when Trump wasn't president. The "stereotypical American" has changed a little. The shit Americans say used to be funny stupid. Now it's more spiteful stupid.

I think we need a few rules regarding government related stuff, and typical stereotypes of Trump supporters on this sub. The latter is pretty well-covered. No /r/t_d, no /r/altright, etc. But with regards to the government, I don't know.

Gonna just page /u/JebusGobson on this so he sees it. I expect most of this stuff is covered on the mod end, with post removals and whatnot that we might not see. The new sticky post specifically mentions getting the sub back to old quality stuff. So I'm sure they're on it, but we might need to just talk about Trump in general and where we stand on him and shit the US government now does/says.
