If the government required quarantine period takes place during work days are we still compensated or do we not get paid at all ? I went home to the US for Christmas (please don’t give me flack for going, Dad died in march and haven’t been home for the holidays since 2018) and my work resumes January 10th, I had made sure to come back with 10 days left on our company holiday to quarantine and then they extended it to 14 days even if you’re vaccinated. So because I’ll miss work is there a law about compensation anywhere?

More importantly, my boss says that I’m “breaking my contract” by not coming back to work on time but the government itself is requiring a longer quarantine time so surely there has to be some leeway? I’m really concerned because I don’t know what “breaking the contract” means in detail. I do not want to lose my job just because of the quarantine extension…
