Weight-loss advice from GPs to patients with obesity rarely included effective methods

I agree and strongly believe that the obesity problem in the US is tied to a massive mental health crisis. Our society is literally not setup in a way that is conducive to happiness. It's just commuting, long hours, spending 50% of your income on rent, repeat.

We can point to fit people all we want and say, if they can do it, why can't you? But the personal responsibility angle is clearly not working and doesn't address the root of the issue. You wouldn't take a heroin addict, point to someone without an addiction, and say, "They don't do heroin, can't you just stop?"

Alternately, if the government really cared, they could stop subsidizing corn and dairy and subsidize healthier food instead.
