Personally, I think people give this way more shit than it deserves.

Politically, I hate everything there is about the US military. Absolutely, without question, (I'm a Marxist) which pretty much means I have to hate the military.

On a personal level, I know people who have used it to escape poverty, terrible home lives, and all sorts of bad situations.

All I can say is that I truly hope you do not see combat (that's what really fucks people up but time) and that you don't get harmed, maimed, or killed out there. I really wish you all the best.

If you've given this serious thought, which I think a lot of people don't do, and this is what you've decided on... then I wish you all the best on this path. Continue to think about it and make sure it's really what you want, but if it is, who is anyone to criticize it?
