What's your perspective on the world being a horrible place?

it sounds like you think life should be some version of heaven, but thts not realistic. life is full of good & bad & life always has been full of good & bad for everyone. tht doesn't make it "horrible", it's just the nature of reality. life on this planet is based around animals(incl humans) tht kill & eat other animals. this means at its most basic, life on earth is built around pain & suffering for some so tht others survive.

you seem to be a little too focused on noticing every slightly bad thing that happens while not paying attention to all the good & beautiful things that happen. the best way to overcome this hyper-focus on bad things is to be the best person you can be. help others. do no harm.(do you eat meat...are you comfortable with all the killing done in your name for you to eat meat? maybe stopping eating other living beings could be a step tht could help you).

if you have a home to live in & food on your table every meal, go out & help the people around you tht don't have these things. every small bit of help or small change makes a difference, not only in the life of others, but also in your mindset & your perception.

change your information intake. lots of places tht people get news & info are focused on keeping people scared & confused. it makes for good customers & keeps the populations frm focusing on larger changes. you hear frantic, dramatic stories of every crime, but very little about the overwhelming majority of people who make it thru unscathed. you mention being hit by bullets & thts a perfect example of being irrationally fearful of something. you worry about getting hit by a bullet, so here's some facts about getting hit by bullets: 99% of people make it thru life without getting hit by a bullet. an overwhelming majority of people hit by bullets survive with little longterm complications(beyond crazy medical bills in america). many people are hit by bullets in accidental shootings, so if you don't have guns around & stay away frm those with guns, the chances of accidentally getting shot drop dramatically. many people hit by bullets are shot because of disagreements among people involved with crime or being around crime...avoid tht lifestyle to lessen your chances. yes, there are mass shootings & ransom shootings & we need to do more to stop them, but the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor tht you won't be involved in one. tht doesn't make shootings less horrible or make it so we don't need change, it just means tht being overly paranoid & scared for yourself just doesn't make sense.

to sum it up, your view of things is entirely your choice. you can choose not to embrace the fear & loathing tht our media pumps out 24/7. or maybe, "life sucks, world is horrible" is the personality you've embraced.

note: when I suggested stopping eating meat, I am doing so while happily eating meat. I was just pointing out tht our lives are built around violence & death & IF it truly bothers someone, there are some personal steps to take. it does not truly bother me, so I eat whatever.
