Like I get the point. “Don’t go to touristy areas if you don’t want to run into other tourists”

I think the point is more "Don't go to tourist areas then complain that there are other tourists there". For example, the "No one speaks English" is an obvious example of this. Going to foreign cities is fine, but expecting everyone in a foreign city to be able to accommodate your inability to speak the local language is not.

Even making the comparison to other similar things can be reasonable. Complaining that Paris or NYC were much dirtier than Berlin or Tokyo is reasonable. Complaining that they're dirtier than Fayetteville Arkansas is not.
