There are lots of Muslim women or women who were formerly Muslim (and now atheists) that have expressed their own unique opinions on the struggles and oppression they've faced. These women have been soundly ignored while Ayaan Hirsi Ali is basically pushed into the spotlight by not only the media but western academics. Why is it that the majority of voices are dismissed but Ali's takes a special weight? It's because Ali is a polemicist that echoes the same narrative pushed by populist far-right anti-immigrant European parties and hawkish American neoconservatives. Ali is not a neocon, she says it herself. She's the extreme version of a Bill Maher type of liberal. She claims neocons are the only ones who listen to her which is why they are the only ones who print her articles; but that's only because these neocons generally intolerant American Evangelicals looking to flair up religious dogma. Ali's other main supporters besides neocons are hardline Zionists who like to paint the Palestine/Israel conflict as a war on Islam rather than something that's the result of years of occupation and oppression the Palestinians have endured.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is what I call a 'native informant'. Bigoted propagandists love native informants. How do you prove to white people that African Americans are the causes to their own struggles? You bring in a Herman Cain and Clarence Thomas to talk to them about how black communities are terrible and blacks are backwards. Ali is no different. She's part of the ever growing Islamophobia machine. How do you prove Islam is the greatest danger to the west? You showcase an asylum seeker who is a former Muslim that tells you Islam wants to kill all infidels and that Muslims are going to slowly Islamicize everything in their path. Why do you think this talk about no-go Muslim zones in Europe is so widely accepted? It's because Ali legitimizes all of these narratives. She's endorsed wars in the Middle East just in the interests of ending Islam. She's endorsed racial profiling. Oddly enough, she's also endorsed converting all Muslims to Christianity (the irony) despite being an atheist.
