According to the data, 9,242 German students were enrolled at U.S. institutions of higher education in the 2019/2020 academic year. This figure represents a .6% increase from the previous year. Germany ranked 16th as a place of origin of international students in the U.S.

The new data also revealed that 12,029 students in the U.S. chose Germany as their study abroad destination in the 2018/2019 academic year. This is a 1.8% decrease from the year before. Germany is ranked 5th overall as a study abroad destination and represents approximately 3.5% of the study abroad market share.
