Just got a job at a private school. Want feedback from private and public school teachers please.

I work at a private school and love it!

We have a lot of say and flexibility in our curriculum, which I hear isn’t always the case in public schools. There are many opportunities for growth— (can pretty much take any PD or attend any conference on school dime, lots of (paid) leadership opportunities). Administration is very responsive to and concerned with staff needs, pay is more flexible (we have steps, but salaries are negotiable), Master’s degrees are paid by school… I can go on— I love my school!

But private schools vary widely you… you really have to take it on a case by case basis. If there are a lot of teachers who have been there 10+ years, it’s probably a good sign.

I’ve never worked at a public school, so can’t compare the two.
