What are your favourite self-help books and how did it help you?

Attached by Amir Levine. Best relationship book I've ever read and I've read plenty. I've re-read this book a lot because I think it's awesome. I've also bought copies of it to gift to my friends that had relationship issues.

Loving Him Without Losing You and Women Who Love Too Much really helped me open my eyes and realize I was once dating someone who was controlling and manipulative. Those two books along with my friends and a reddit stranger helped give me the courage to leave him and to not get back together. It also helped me appreciate how healthy, normal and easy my relationship with my current boyfriend.

5 Love Languages is a pretty awesome book for romance as well. Basically that people value different ways of showing love so you can figure out which one they prefer and which one you prefer.

Well, I didn't like the book but I enjoyed watching the movie The Peaceful Warrior. It's about living in the moment and giving the present moment your full attention. I also liked that the main character had character growth. When I was not as emotionally resilient, many years ago, I used to watch it a lot.

Emotional Detachment is pretty good too. I used to get too emotionally attached when people told me their sob stories/problems and it actually really, really stressed me out. Anyways, that book was pretty awesome and helped me learn to step back and develop better boundaries. Thanks to that book as well as life experience, I try my best to not take things too personally.
