Yes you’re right I think my point might have been lost. Racism and colourism are both reasons why she was treated better, and the better treatment of lighter skinned people is a massive racist shit problem that we as a society need to fix.

I was trying to say that this is not the only factor at play and that since it is in so many other ways disadvantageous to bleach your skin, you can achieve at least part of the effect with confidence and in the way you interact with others. I don’t think it is ever good to promote bleaching skin as a looksmaxxing method. (If anything because this only perpetuates the same racist ideology that beauty and appeal is tied to lighter skin)
