My dad was always an asshole. My mother divorced him 20 years too late imo. Anyway, she knew about his history. He grew up incredibly poor. And he was abused. For some reason, his parents despised him. They lived on a farm with 5 kids but he was the only one they made sleep outside (and he was the oldest!). He slept with the farm animals. And they didn’t send him to school (his siblings went to school). I heard he once stole some sugar from his mother so he can mix it with raw goat milk and drink it. They beat him severely for that when he was caught.

My mother admitted she married him out of pity. He proposed to her the first time he met her. She said no cause he looked and smelled homeless. He tried again and threatened to kill himself if she said no.

My mother told me to go ask any of his siblings if I don’t believe her. I did and they all confirmed it.
