Dept managers look at the projects from a bird eye view. We do resource projections, work with HOD’s in dept wide issues, with HR to supply show needs (new hires, contract extensions, etc). There is no set way of doing things, but I like to check with the artists to see how they’re doing and if there is bullshit happening that we may not be aware of (Not my personal experience but a friend of mine found out a producer was asking junior artists to log fewer hours and threatening them to badmouth them to their leads in a 1-1). So, you don’t hear as often from us as you do with coords bc we’re not in the show… but in the bigger studio structure
