I am Senator Bernie Sanders, Democratic candidate for President of the United States — AMA

My question relates to your stance on immigration. You voted no on giving visas to more skilled workers. You've also said that guest workers jeopardize youth employment. Your rhetoric on guest programs indicates your skepticism.

My question is this: Would you ever support opening our borders to a greater extent given the evidence that both high-skilled and even low-skilled immigrants provide economic benefits to American natives? My sources are linked below. Basically, I feel as if you believe that guest workers are imported by corporations specifically to depress wages, even though skilled immigrants are associated with higher native wages in empirical studies. This is also a bit dehumanizing on the face of it since these immigrants come here to work, contribute to our economy, and improve their welfare.

There is even evidence that low-skilled immigrants can lead to higher wages and employment for natives. Evidence that off-shoring has a null effect on native employment while immigration has a positive effect is further given here. Other sources linked below are given.
